I'm not in Ireland but I too am a journalist, though I failed to rise to similar heights.

Bowers in Ireland

Yea I live in Dublin and I am obviously a Bowers. I have just taken an interest in this because my dad claims that we are somehow related to Birdie Bowers. I currently have found no information.

Bowers In Ireland

My father said that we were from Ireland, had been chased out of Scotland. I read a while back on another board that we were McGregors but when the King ban the name due to Rob Roy we took on our trade names. Bowers were the bow makers or builders. I do love Ireland and know that many Bowers imigrated to the USA. We are planning our second trip next year to Ireland. I love your country.

Nice to see these

Nice to see these messages.
My late father's name was Michael Bowers. He was from Grangemockler, South Tipperary.
I know that the Bowers name is not uncommon in America however here in Ireland, there are only around 30-40 Bowers families.

Where do Bower/Bowers families live in Ireland?

Hi,
My great-great grandmother was Mary Bower and was born somewhere in Ireland in about 1840, and later immigrated to New York. Her parents were Robert and Jane Bower. I haven't been able to determine where they lived in Ireland. It is interesting to find out that there are so few Bowers' families in Ireland. Is the name Bower just as uncommon in Ireland? Is there a part of Ireland where there is a concentration of Bowers or Bower families?

cool

My mother and father are now talking about going a vacation to Ireland. i really hope we can go
